وضع العلامات على الإطارات الخضراء في الصين: الفوائد
China encourages and promotes the development of green tires by companies, and the green label has become the focus of public attention. What are green tires? And what is the green label? The green label is used to prove to consumers that the entire process of the product, from research and development to production, transportation, sales, use, and recycling, complies with environmental protection standards and does not cause any harm to the ecological environment or human health.
Green tires are not just an empty concept; they can achieve tangible benefits in terms of reducing carbon, saving energy, and protecting the environment for the country, while providing consumers with safer performance.
Compared to traditional tires, green tires have better elasticity, lower rolling resistance, and reduced fuel consumption, which can effectively reduce vehicle fuel consumption by 3%-8%, decrease carbon dioxide emissions, shorten braking distances on wet roads, improve driving safety, and reduce "black pollution" caused by discarded tires, balancing environmental benefits with user experience.
Is the green tire standard mandatory? Currently, there are no mandatory regulations for tire labeling in China; participation by companies is entirely voluntary. However, in the future, relevant authorities will certainly work to strengthen label management to prevent continued chaos in the labeling market.
According to a response issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology at the end of 2024, our country has established a platform for the application and management of tire labeling. By the end of 2023, 73 tire companies had completed registration, and 146 tire labels covering 855 specifications were used, indicating a gradual acceleration in the standardization of industry norms.
The importance of labels is clear. They represent product performance, and more importantly, they prove that the product has passed relevant certifications and tests, reducing the likelihood of consumers purchasing counterfeit products.
For consumers, tire labels act as "product instructions," providing a clear understanding of the basic performance of the tire and preventing random tire selection. For companies, labels reflect product competitiveness; companies actively participating in label certifications are more likely to gain market recognition.
What are the contents of tire label testing? The technical specifications for Chinese tire labels align with those of tire labels in the European Union, including tests for noise, slip resistance, and rolling resistance. However, the numerical standards in Chinese labeling regulations are stricter.
Specifically, rolling resistance directly affects vehicle energy consumption, and our country's labeling standards impose stricter requirements on its values compared to the European Union, helping the automotive industry achieve "carbon reduction" goals.
Wet road grip performance is divided into different levels; the higher the level indicated on the label, the stronger the tire's grip on rainy or icy roads, effectively reducing traffic accidents. Noise levels correspond to different decibel standards, and clear labels help consumers choose products with better noise reduction, meeting the high requirements for quietness in new energy vehicles.
In the current situation, breaking through green trade barriers and controlling the technological and economic peaks of the global tire industry is a long-term development strategy for our country's tire industry. Since 2026, the European Union, the United States, Russia, and other countries and regions have introduced new trade and environmental policies.
The European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism has officially entered the mandatory collection phase, setting excessive values for carbon emission intensity for Chinese tires. Russia has also increased environmental taxes on tires exceeding polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) limits. These green barriers severely restrict our country's tire exports.
Data indicates that in 2025, our country's exports of rubber tires reached 9.65 million tons, an annual increase of 3.6%, but export value increased slightly by only 2%, with weak growth in unit price. One of the main reasons is that some domestically produced tires lack unified and reliable green label certification, making it difficult to comply with international standards.
To address this, it is necessary to accelerate the adjustment of the tire industry and product structure. The urgent task is to introduce relevant regulations as soon as possible to standardize tire label categories and ensure that energy-saving and environmentally friendly labels are fully applied to domestically produced tires.
Currently, some leading companies have taken the initiative, such as Guizhou Tire Company, a national green factory, which has launched a series of green products where green materials constitute 45.88% of its products, enhancing its competitiveness in the high-end market through label certifications.
Industry experts say that standardizing tire label standards can not only regulate the market system and eliminate issues such as counterfeit and chaotic labels but also guide companies to increase investment in green technology research and development, promoting the transformation of the tire industry towards low-carbon, environmentally friendly, and high-end products.
At the same time, relevant authorities need to strengthen policy dissemination and supervision, improve the supporting standard system, and promote the transition of tire labeling from "voluntary participation" to "normative guidance" to help our country's tire industry break through green barriers, occupy a more favorable position in the global market, and achieve mutual benefits for environmental, economic, and social gains.
